Descriptions

This master bathroom remodel included the addition of a steam shower, which was a priority for the homeowner. The original bathroom featured dark slate tile in the shower, a black tiled vanity top, and a built-in tub deck, all of which made the space feel closed in. The golden oak vanity was also removed and replaced with a painted vanity to match the updated color scheme.

We started by removing the existing finishes and fixtures to open up the layout. The built-in tub and shower were replaced with a larger steam shower. The tub was not replaced, as the homeowner preferred a larger open space for storage and a more spacious shower area. The steam shower unit was installed in the walk-in closet, which shares a wall with the shower plumbing. Steam showers require a generator and a fully tiled and sealed shower space, including the ceiling.

The new flooring is a large format gray LVT. The shower tile is a large format white tile with vertical installation. An accent wall and floor tile feature a hexagon ceramic mosaic in a variety of soft blue tones. The new Shale Bertch vanity is topped with Portrush Cambria quartz, a white surface with blue veining that ties into the rest of the finishes.

The finished space is now more functional and better suited to the homeowner’s daily routine. If a steam shower—or just a better layout—is on your list, we’d be happy to help you plan it out.
