For this family room update, the homeowner wanted to replace the existing fieldstone fireplace with stacked stone extending to the ceiling. They also wanted to update the surrounding bookcases with cabinet storage to reduce visible clutter and add decorative shelving.
We replaced the old square gas fireplace with a new 42-inch linear gas fireplace. The fieldstone was replaced with mixed-color Bucks Creek Stone in a dry stack installation, accented with a Texas Cream Stone hearth for contrast. Extending the stone to the ceiling created a place to hang a new TV over the mantel.
On either side of the fireplace, we replaced the bookcases with lower cabinets in Sherwin Williams Waterloo, featuring Honey Bronze hardware for closed storage. Two floating shelves with under-shelf lighting were added on both sides for decorative display. The fireplace mantel was coordinated with the floating shelves to create a cohesive, finished look across the wall.
If you’re ready to refresh your family room, we can help design a fireplace wall that combines style and functionality for your home.
