When you spend months planning a remodel, choosing materials, and watching your home come together, the last thing you want is to wonder what happens if something goes wrong afterward. At Russell Room Remodelers, we stand behind the work we do. Our warranty is there to give you peace of mind once the project is complete and your newly remodeled space becomes part of everyday life.
As a licensed Minnesota contractor, we are required to have a warranty available for our work. Minnesota Statute 327A addresses warranties for certain construction and home improvement work. You can read the statute through the Minnesota Legislature. Legal language doesn’t always make it easy to understand what a warranty means for a homeowner, so here’s a straightforward look at what our warranty covers and what falls outside of it.
Workmanship and Installation
The products in your remodel matter, but so does the way they’re installed. If something was built or installed incorrectly because of a workmanship issue, we will address it during the first year. A warranty isn’t a promise that nothing in your home will ever need attention. Homes get used, materials age, and things happen. Our responsibility is to stand behind the quality of the work we performed.
Defective Products and Materials
Even a good product can occasionally have a manufacturing defect. A cabinet hinge can fail, or a faucet can develop a leak unrelated to how it was used. If a product or material we supplied is defective, we will replace it at our expense during the first two years, subject to the terms of the warranty.
Many manufacturers also provide their own warranties, sometimes for considerably longer than two years. If something slips through after your project is complete, you shouldn’t have to figure everything out on your own.
Structural Coverage for 10 Years
Some of the most important parts of a remodel are the things you don’t see once the project is finished. Framing, beams, trusses, joists, and other structural components need to remain sound long after the final coat of paint has dried. Our warranty provides 10 years of coverage for structural issues associated with the work. We take that responsibility seriously.
What Isn’t Covered?
A warranty has limits, too. That’s worth understanding before a problem comes up.
Accidental or Intentional Damage
Life happens in a house. A heavy object gets dropped on a countertop, furniture scratches a floor, or something else causes damage after the project is complete. We can help with repairs when something like this happens, but damage caused by accidental or intentional actions isn’t covered under the warranty. Our warranty is intended to cover problems related to construction, installation, or products.
Normal Wear and Tear
Your remodeled space is meant to be lived in. Paint can get scuffed, flooring can develop scratches, and finishes can change over time. Those are normal parts of owning a home and aren’t considered warranty defects. The key question is whether the condition resulted from a problem with the original work or ordinary use over time.
Changes Made by Someone Else
If another contractor or installer modifies our work, we can’t continue to warranty that portion of the project in the same way. The same applies if a homeowner makes alterations themselves.
